Privacy policy
Effective 5 November 2026
Cardshot is a Chrome extension that captures parts of web pages and turns them into images. Everything it does happens on your computer. It has no account, no server and no analytics, and it never sends your screenshots or your browsing anywhere.
What Cardshot stores
- Your captures: the images of the blocks you pick, with the address and title of the page they came from, so the editor can show and label them. Only the latest ten captures are kept; older ones are deleted automatically.
- Your settings and styles: things like your chosen frame, background, language and the looks you save.
All of this is stored inside your browser (the extension's local storage and IndexedDB). It is not synced to your Google account and not sent to us or anyone else.
What Cardshot does not do
- It does not collect personal information.
- It does not send any data over the network, including screenshots, page contents, addresses or usage statistics.
- It does not use cookies, ads, analytics or third-party services.
- It does not sell or share data, because it has none to share.
Why it asks for its permissions
- Debugger: to show the page as a tablet or phone, switch it to dark mode, and take the screenshot. It is used only on the page you are capturing, only while capturing, and released right after.
- Active tab and scripting: to show the block picker on the page where you clicked the Cardshot button.
- Access to websites: used only as a fallback when the debugger is unavailable (for example while DevTools is open on that tab), to capture the tablet and phone versions in a temporary window.
- Storage: to keep your captures, settings and styles on your computer.
Deleting your data
Removing Cardshot from Chrome deletes everything it stored. Captures beyond the latest ten are deleted automatically along the way.
This website
This site uses no cookies and no analytics. It remembers your language choice in your browser's local storage. The demo on the homepage runs entirely in your browser; images you download from it are made on your device.
